Musician Mental Health Support Group

A large goal of this organization is to demonstrate the immense value music can have in our communities. Perhaps the biggest way you can see that impact is the relationship between music and mental health. We are very fortunate to have Eli Flynn, a local music therapist and established artist, on our board. He is spearheading our first program, a monthly support group, that will serve as a no-cost service to local musicians. Read below to hear about why he finds this work to be so critical and important in our community. - Ray

As creators, we are often inspired by an idea or concept that quickly shifts us into work mode. These sometimes fleeting moments of creativity may feel like a burst of energy or a flash of light. While this creative explosion can feel overwhelmingly productive, it can come with a pending "crash" which leaves us feeling hollow.

So much of our creativity serves as a mirror to our physical, emotional and/or spiritual needs. This is the great blessing and curse of our gift. With the introduction of the Musician's Mental Health Support Group, The Local Sound collaborative aims to establish a unique space for creatives to share their trials and triumphs in the ever-captivating world of creativity. Open to musicians of all levels, this monthly group will be facilitated by healthcare professionals who also navigate the world of music.

Whether you're a beginner, novice or pro, come share your journey with a group of peers who all share a common path: navigating the path of a musician. This includes those experienced in performing, recording, writing and producing. Let this group serve as a support group facilitated BY musicians, FOR musicians.
